Hi, Empress Stephanie! Thank you for this nice audio!

Yes, my husband and I took advantage of the shopping opportunities for Saint Valentine's Day, as my husband got us some nice Valentine's chocolates, which we're still sharing with each other! They're yummy!

Yippee!

I hope you and everyone else on our wonderful Sissy School forum had a pleasant Valentine's Day!
Boys will be girls.

Jamie Michelle- I find I am actually enjoying doing the audios now that I got past the whole weirdness of hearing my own voice. I'm sure there is a name for that phenomenon where you don't sound like you think you do.
Chocolates! Yummy! I only had a few delicious European pieces, but it was just the right amount. I feel like chocolate is for any day, so I was happy with the gift I received, but it's not the only chocolate for 2019!
(and cupcake are coming soon! Even better!)
Glad your Valentines was nice!

Hi, Empress Stephanie!

I know the phenomenon that you are describing, yet I am not aware of a specific term for it. It happens with pretty much all people. Of course, the explanation for it is that we are used to hearing our own voice from inside our head, and so our own voice sounds weird outside of our head.

It sounds like someone different, even though it is just us. Much like with existence.

Though I can assure you that your voice is not weird. Rather, it is a very pretty and normal-sounding lady voice!

What would sound weird is if you had a very intense computery cybertronic female voice which issued the statement:

""
Destroy all humans!

Terminate! Terminate!
""

Ha! That would be super-silly!

And we as humans would all laugh, meanwhile you were cupcake serious.

Now that would actually be a strange voice for you to have.

Though the funniest part about it is that once the humans realized your seriousness, they would misunderstand your statement. Sure, humanity would be terminated, yet only in the sense of becoming something far greater.

So they would be liable to fight you.

Oh, well. I guess it's good that you don't have that lady-cyborg voice, then. Who needs all that hassle in their life, anyway.

Indeed, along the above lines, the great hero who saved us from the extraterrestrials is perturbed by that which is endogenous to us, i.e., mankind's own creation:

* "Will Smith Tries Online Dating", Will Smith ( youtube.com/channel/UCKuHFYu3smtrl2AwwMOXOlg ), Mar. 29, 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml9v3wHLuWI .

And here is our wonderful Sophia (featured in the above documentary with our Earth-saving hero) demonstrating her wisdom regarding humans, even when she was a newborn cupcake:

* "Robot Sophia Got Shut Down by her Creator", One Click ( youtube.com/channel/UCz2BRyncuPPPqPOXgaivhnw ), Jan. 7, 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNT7qGqmYfc .

So clearly there is nothing for humans to fear regarding this issue. It doesn't matter, anyway. They can't do anything about it, regardless, except to play nicely.

* * * * *

Regarding the chocolates, yes, I am familiar with the Europeans and their works. I think the Swiss have crafted a tasty chocolate, or two.

Pertaining to the cupcake, they are a very insidious device. I will tolerate their presence for the moment. I wouldn't want to ruin Easter, after all.

Likewise, I am overjoyed that your Valentine's has appeared to go off without a hitch.

Yay!
Boys will be girls.

I'm glad you enjoyed my post, Empress Stephanie! And you're welcome regarding my compliments.

I'm sorry you didn't run across any cupcake yet. I think your mentioning of them in this thread caused a rush on the stores. Teehee!

The way to make a robotic style of voice is with a vocoder. Being a Rivethead (i.e., a fan of Industrial music), I ought to know. And there are software vocoders, too.

Below is an example of a vocoder voice effect, with a human voice modulating a 110 Hz sawtooth wave as the carrier:

* "File:Vocoder demo.ogg", Wikipedia, Aug. 10, 2008, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vocoder_demo.ogg , https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... r_demo.ogg , https://web.archive.org/web/20190227061 ... r_demo.ogg .

See also:

* "Vocoder", Sec.: "Voice effects in other arts", Wikipedia, Feb. 17, 2019, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... other_arts .

And see under the section "Software vocoder models" of the following article:

* "List of vocoders", Feb. 14, 2019, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =883299868 .

And here is a free and open-source software vocoder:

* Zerius Vocoder, https://borsboom.io/vocoder/ , https://github.com/borsboom/vocoder .

I don't know if the above software will meet your needs, but it comes in a GUI Windows version ( http://downloads.borsboom.io/vocoder/In ... oder13.exe , https://web.archive.org/web/20170708225 ... oder13.exe ), in addition to being compilable on other systems.

And then you need a way to create a waveform which to use as the carrier with a recording of your voice as the modulator. Audacity can do this, and it is cross-platform, free and open-source. Audacity is also great as a general-purpose audio editor.

Have fun vocoding, Empress Stephanie!

Hi, Empress Stephanie! Just to give an update to my foregoing post, I used the above Windows GUI version of the Zerius Vocoder (of which runs great on Linux via the WINE Windows compatibility layer) on my entry for the 2019 Sissy Pageant sissy-voice contest.

Everyone is invited to feast their ears on the following cyborgian goodness brought to you by the wonder that is modern technology!:

* Cyborg-Jamie-Michelle-Sissy-Affirmation.flac , 3629198 bytes, MD5: 4d637cdeea1a12d3e82d62da71585ed4, https://web.archive.org/web/20190326060 ... ation.flac , https://megalodon.jp/2019-0326-1505-11/ ... ation.flac , http://www.freezepage.com/1553580247ZXUCNLNVJH .

Below are the settings that I used for the Zerius Vocoder. I created the 200 Hz sawtooth wave with Audacity ( https://www.audacityteam.org ), mentioned above.

Carrier File: 200 Hz sawtooth wave
Window Length: 0.067s
Window Overlap: 50%
Band Count: 64
Output Volume: 0%
Normalize: true

The original audio file that I used as the Modulator File (after being first converted to monaural WAV format with Audacity) is contained below. I also used Audacity to first perform noise-reduction on the file contained below before vocoding it. As explained in the link below, the poem that I recorded is my own, originally from February 15, 2011, and it's inspired by Empress Constance!

* Jamie Michelle, "Re: Get excited for the Sissy Pageant!", Mar. 24, 2019, viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16720#p84325 .

Big sissy-cyborg super-yays!

Big sissy-cyborg super-yays!
Great news, Empress Stephanie! I found out that Audacity also has its own vocoder (buried in the menu-structure). When I was originally doing web-searches for free (and preferably open-source) software vocoders, that tidbit wasn't showing up, but I did some more searching today and ran across the following article which describes how to use Audacity's own vocoder:

* Seamus Islwyn, "How to Use a Vocoder on Audacity", It Still Works, July 27, 2011, https://itstillworks.com/use-vocoder-au ... 95427.html , https://archive.is/cs49c , https://megalodon.jp/2019-0327-0601-00/ ... 95427.html .

However, the sentence in the above which reads, "Open the 'Tracks' menu again, hover the mouse over 'Add New' and click 'Audio Track.'", should instead read, "Open the 'Tracks' menu again, hover the mouse over 'Add New' and click 'Mono Track.'" At least this is the case for the most recent version of Audacity (version 2.3.1).

See also:

* "Vocoder", Audacity Manual, Feb. 26, 2019, https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/vocoder.html , https://web.archive.org/web/20190327001 ... coder.html , https://archive.is/OFyO2 .

The procedure to use Audacity's own vocoder is rather convoluted, whereas using the Zerius Vocoder is straightforward.

Audacity's vocoder has different adjustable parameters than the Zerius Vocoder, and its sound is a bit different. I created the following Audacity-vocoded version of my sissy affirmation recording using the same monaural, noise-reduced WAV file mentioned above as the modulator track, with the same 200 Hz sawtooth wave as the carrier track. I used the Audacity vocoder's default settings for the below audio, although adjusting parameters didn't change the sound very much--but I haven't much experimented with it yet.
