Taking the direction of the Sun's arc across the sky from the first recorded specimen in Austin to its later collection in Japan, the Texas Star was first spotted in the east direction. Hence, those specimens in Texas could suitably be called the Eastern Star variety of their species--perhaps even the Morning Star variety.

When the Texas Star disseminates its spores, it splits open to create three to seven star-points made from its fruiting body. Because of this, five points is one of its more common splits. It is one of the rare fungal species which make an audible sound when it sporificates.

Now, an issue arises regarding the Texas Star mushroom species that might be a tad troubling to some (i.e., given my foregoing comments pertaining to the matter). So let me here resolve that.

The Texas Star has also been called the Devil's Cigar. Woo, scary! Perhaps some horrible trick is being played upon mankind.

But how did it get that name? The answer is that it got that name because its fruiting body looks like a rather overstuffed cigar, and it explodes when the Texas Star releases its spores (i.e., when it propagates itself). In other words, the Texas Star is ultimately a harmless gag-item which mostly comes as a psychological shock and busts a person's ego, but otherwise no lasting damage is caused.

Yet who then is the smoker of this cigar? Did the Devil pass them out to us, and we are then the smokers of it who have it explode in our faces? How exactly does the possessive case in this situation work out?

Well, let's put it this way. If John hands Paul a cigar and tells Paul that it's Paul's to smoke, who is the rightful possessor of this cigar at that point? Rightful ownership has then been transferred. It's now Paul's cigar. He is the rightful owner of it now.

That is, it is the smoker of the cigar who possesses it. Get it now?

Perhaps not.

But where does the Devil live? Where is his home address?

That's an important question, because we want to make sure that the Devil gets what he rightfully possesses (or rather, what he thinks he rightfully owns). We wish to ensure that his cigar goes to the exact right spot, so that he may then partake of what he thinks is his rightfully-owned cigar.

A historical explanation is in order.

The Japanese island of Kyushu is the location of the first Christian converts in Japan. Yet they came under heavy persecution by the governmental authorities at that time, and hence went underground.

The crescents in the image represent the dawning Sun, of which drives out all darkness in its fullness.

The crosses are, well, crosses. No real mystery there.

Though the imagery of the pentagram still seems very mysterious to us.

Although it shouldn't. You see, the Japanese converts apparently read their good books a bit more closely than their Western counterparts.

Particularly the very, very end of their good books. And, being the very observant fellows and fellowesses that they are, they must have noticed a pattern in the sky. A pattern relating to what He/She/It told them about Itself.

Being the silly creatures that the Japanese can often be, apparently they took that too seriously. That was their first mistake. After which it all went right.

The Star which they promulgate is no real secret or occult thing, let alone degraded. It's very beautiful, actually.

But herein lies the rub:

That "Star" only gives signal to a much greater Light. That Star is the light which shines in the darkness, of which the world comprehends not. Said Star does not itself drive out all the darkness, but rather gives signal of the dawning Light by which no shadow can find abode.
